Policy on Press and Photographers

Kingdoms of Novitas has a policy of not allowing press and/or photographers to document and/or photograph during weekend events. This policy was put in place several years ago, for several reasons:

1. We get nothing from it. We have never received new players, or even an inquiry via email, as a result of print or online media coverage.

2. It is disruptive to our game atmosphere. Few things can shatter our suspension of disbelief more than a videographer in street clothes sticking a camera in your face during a dramatic scene.

3. Potential for bad press. We have already stated we get nothing from good press, so why take a chance at it being a hack job? And, honestly, we're an easy target for ridicule if someone wanted to.

4. Player privacy. We have a number of players who, for wholly legitimate and reasonable personal and professional reasons, desire to keep their nerdy hobby private. By controlling media access, we aid them in this.

Additionally, KoN has within the ranks of our volunteer staff, several talented amateur and a couple professional photographers. If we feel we need new pictures for our own purposes, we simply ask one of them to spend an NPC shift snapping photos. This way we are assured that they will be discreet, appropriate and useful.

If you are a professional press person, acting in a professional capacity, and can show us a portfolio of your previously published works, and can provide us up-front with a publication date for any article or pictures you take and the name of the publication, we may reconsider. Please PM me through these forums, or email me, to discuss the possibility of an exception.

tl;dr: "I wanna take pictures!" Thanks, but no thanks.
