Ritual Essences

Ritual Essences
Lootable:Yes
Brief Description:An entire class of scarce items used to construct hard-to-find rituals

Ritual Essences

There is no one item named 'Ritual essence'. Instead this is one of many different scarce alchemical compounds made using lost arts that is used to create the most rare of rituals. Each ritual essence will have a title 'Essence of <ritual name>'. There is only one version of each ritual essence, but there is one for each rare ritual that can be assembled using ritual paper. The essence will always tell you what it is the finish ritual actually does, though not the cost to perform, which can sometimes be quite expensive. Some rituals require extremely additional rare parts to assemble, when a ritual has these requirements the essence will always be the place that lists them.

In the days when rituals were still something that were being actively crafted the artisans who did so would coalesce magic into a tangible form as a step in the process. This was possibly the hardest part of the entire process, forcing magic to take shape that it might be bound into a ritual to repeatedly perform the same effects. That magic was captured into vials, termed 'Essences', while it waited the other parts to be bound into a finished ritual that someone would be able to perform.

Detailed Information

Scarce Items

Some consumable items will be labeled as being scarce. These items can't be copied, reproduced, used without being consumed, or crafted by players through any means, including feb feast items. Scarce items are intended to only ever be available as loot.

Assembling Loot Rituals

Some rare rituals can only be obtained by acquiring a variety of scarce components. At minimum these rituals require a ritual quill (which is consumed in the crafting of the ritual), 5 doses or ritual ink, ritual paper, ritual binding elixir, the essence of the ritual in question (which may list additional required components), and the intent for the ritual (which will determine the incantation the finished ritual will have). When these items are gathered and turned in via pre-production a permanent copy of a ritual is created. Some of these rituals can only be used by the person who created it and are labeled as "Creator Bound"
