Character Gender Guidelines
Kingdoms of Novitas is here to create an immersive experience. To create our world, we strive for each and every one of our characters to be true, fully fleshed out people. Kingdoms of Novitas is not a place for caricatures. These rules are drafted to prevent caricatures, not to prevent gender expression. If you feel like the rule as written hinders your personal gender expression, please speak with us as that is not the intention.
All players are expected to play PCs of a gender (or lack thereof) that matches their real-world identity.
Under normal circumstances players are not permitted to change the gender of their character. In the event of a real-life transition, plot staff will be happy to coordinate with you to make changes to a character's backstory.
Notwithstanding the above, it is the desire of Kingdoms of Novitas, and the intention of these rules, that all players are able to play their PCs with a gender identity that makes them comfortable. If you have a personal situation that does not neatly fit into the cases we have addressed, please speak to any Marshal or Second and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
Cross-dressing of any kind by NPCs, of PC races, is forbidden, and violations of this should be reported immediately to Plot staff. Occasionally, staffing needs at game will require that certain monster roles that are usually played by one gender be played by another, for example, if a plot calls for five Buzzers, and only three women are available, two men may be pressed into service as Buzzers. This is not preferred, but may be necessary, will only be done with monsters, and will not be done as a joke for comic relief.
Finally, as a reminder please remember that if you have issues with ANYTHING at game, please talk to a Marshal. If you do not talk to a Marshal, we cannot know what is wrong and therefore cannot help you fix it. If you think there should be action taken about anything, you need to say so to a Marshal. We are here and happy to help. We are players and lovers of this game, doing our best to make it an enjoyable experience for everyone.
